So you want to know more? Well, I have a Degree in Mass Media and Communications and more recently, attained an HND in Photography and Digital Imaging. In between getting these qualifications, I worked for a bank. But hey, don't let that put you off! A second chance? While I was working for the bank, my brother became ill and sadly died. His death shook up my approach to my own life. Within a month I had handed in my notice at the bank and put together a portfolio of my images. I applied to a few colleges but as it was late summer, most courses were full. Where is James Watt College? As luck would have it, David Archibald found a place for me on the HND Photography and Digital Imaging at James Watt College in Kilwinning. David is the course leader and he, along with Ron McLean and Janet Jamieson, proved to be friendly and supportive throughout my two years at the college. I believe that with their help and through my own hard work, I have improved tremendously as a photographer. Well, was it worth it? I believe so. My client list is growing steadily. I am enjoying my work and I am proud of the images I produce. Although every job is different, I am confident I have the tools and techniques to produce images that will delight my clients. For me, it is a privilege to be able to work as a photographer. I'll never forget the circumstances that have allowed me to change my career and I'm amazed by the continuing support of my wife and family. Ok, but what does it all mean? It means I'm a highly motivated, qualified, professsional photographer. I have a great understanding of how photography and planned communications can work together. I understand my role is to be one less problem for you and that it is your prerogative to expect to be 100% happy with what you are paying for. |

I really enjoy combining sophisticated studio lighting with high-end, digital re-touching techniques, to get the results I want:
...but sometimes the best results can be achieved straight out of the camera using available light from a window or doorway.
